When Graeme Morrice says he has \u00e2\u20ac\u015bpursued an agenda of putting working people first\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 since being elected to Parliament in 2010 you know he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not joking.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Livingston MP is an active supporter of \u00c2\u00a0issues close to the heart of trade unionism. A lifelong Unite member, he introduced a Protection of Workers Bill in Parliament.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAlthough it was unsuccessful\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he says, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bit still highlighted the growing problem of violence faced by workers serving the public.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He has also been involved in inquiries into what he has no hesitation in calling \u00e2\u20ac\u015bthe exploitative nature of zero hours contracts and the scandal of blacklisting in employment.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n

Public service is bred in the bone for Morrice \u00e2\u20ac\u201c who grew up in the local area and went on to lead West Lothian Council for more than a decade.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI am a firm supporter of protecting and enhancing trade union rights, increasing the minimum wage and promoting the living wage\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he says.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s also frank enough to admit he expects a \u00e2\u20ac\u015btight-fought contest\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 to hold onto his seat, but says that If re-elected \u00c2\u00a0he \u00e2\u20ac\u015bwill continue to work with the unions in promoting the best interests of working people.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n

When asked about issues he sees as key in this seat \u00e2\u20ac\u201c which has boundaries stretching from the western outskirts of Edinburgh to the edge of the former industrial heartlands of Strathclyde \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Morrice prefers to look at the bigger picture.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bOur situation is no different to the rest of Scotland and the rest of the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he says, \u00e2\u20ac\u015bpeople feel that over the last number of years they have been let down by the current government and are often struggling to make ends meet.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u015bLabour is the only party that can replace the Tories in government. We need a government and a Prime Minister that is going to get on with the job and get the country back on track\u00e2\u20ac\u0165.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

By that he means re-distributing wealth \u00e2\u20ac\u015bfrom the top to those with the least in society and bring about fairness, justice and equality in society.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n
