{"id":3860,"date":"2015-04-27T11:59:09","date_gmt":"2015-04-27T10:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=3860"},"modified":"2015-04-27T11:59:09","modified_gmt":"2015-04-27T10:59:09","slug":"ambulance-workers-in-pay-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=3860","title":{"rendered":"Ambulance workers in pay strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>A 24-hour stoppage on May 6 has been confirmed by Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s ambulance service members\u00c2\u00a0in Northern Ireland &#8211; the only health area in the UK where workers have not received \u00c2\u00a0an offer of a pay rise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A\u00c2\u00a0programme of strike action over\u00c2\u00a0an outstanding pay claim for last year, the lack of any offer for this year, plus\u00c2\u00a0proposed health service closures, will now go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Union members across the NI health service will also refuse to work unpaid overtime from\u00c2\u00a0April 30.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite national officer Kevin McAdam said, &#8220;Healthcare workers are outraged at the failure of the DHSSPS to respond to the need for a fair and equitable pay rise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>McAdam said staff were &#8220;alarmed&#8221; at the pay situation, saying the imposition of a settlement and absence of a rise had &#8220;caused anxiety for already under-pressure staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>McAdam added, &#8220;This action is the next stage in our long running pay campaign. We are now joining other health unions in a strategy of varied actions designed to maximise disruption to the management of services while minimising impact on clients.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis fight is about protecting jobs and services and we will do what it takes to get the Stormont mandarins to start treating the staff in health with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our members are the lynch-pin of the National Health Service and are being treated abysmally when it comes to pay.
