{"id":4559,"date":"2015-06-23T16:17:22","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T15:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=4559"},"modified":"2015-06-24T16:20:20","modified_gmt":"2015-06-24T15:20:20","slug":"seafood-jobs-to-fall-through-net","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=4559","title":{"rendered":"Seafood jobs to fall through net"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The potential loss of up to 300 jobs at Young\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Seafood in Grimsby is extremely worrying news to the workforce and the local economy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The company has lost a vital contract with Sainsbury\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and it is feared that the supermarket giant has gone directly to Norwegian company, Marine Harvest, which provides the farmed salmon to Young\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Marsden Road site in Grimsby.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is extremely serious and very worrying news,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Dave Monogahn, Unite regional officer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know how many jobs will be lost yet but the company is looking to obtain new contracts to fill the void.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Young\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s workforce at Marsden Road prepare, smoke, freeze and deliver salmon to Sainsbury\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Two-thirds of the workforce of 300 permanent staff and 200 agency workers are at risk.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe will be asking Sainsbury\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s if Marine Harvest has the ability to provide the processed salmon directly to Sainsbury\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s.
