He stands to receive this bonus, according to media reports, on completion of the takeover.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dairy Crest wants to sell off its loss-making milk business to M\u0102\u013dller, best known for its yoghurt range, while keeping its profitable cheese and spreads. This proposed deal is now with the CMA, as if the takeover goes ahead, it will leave just two major players in milk production and distribution \u00e2\u20ac\u201c M\u0102\u013dller and Arla Foods.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe recognise the rationale behind the takeover and while we do have concerns in the short term about job losses, this is what the industry needs in the long-term, said Matt.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Sour taste<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bBut what leaves a sour taste in the mouth is the \u00c2\u01411.2m bonus for Mark Allen when the company is saying that it has no money for a decent pay rise. This is on top of his latest reported salary of \u00c2\u01411.28m annually.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bUnite is calling for Mark Allen, who has been chief executive since 2007, to give up his bonus, so it can go towards giving all Dairy Crest workers a well-deserved pay increase.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite said that further wage negotiations for 2015 are scheduled for Thursday July 30 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and it expects a better offer to be put on the table than the current one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dairy Crest employs about 3,000 staff involved in milk production and delivery in the UK \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 2,000 in milk production and delivery, and 1,000 in the cheese and spread business.
