makers Pilkington in Birmingham are striking in a dispute over pay inequality with co-workers at another site five miles away.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">More than 130 workers at the King\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Norton Pilkington Automotive Ltd site are holding a series of strike actions and a continuous overtime ban from Monday June 29 until Friday July 10.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The protest is over pay inequality with the workers at the Pilkington site at Redditch receiving \u00c2\u01413,000-a-year more for work of equal value.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe crux of the dispute is that five miles down the road in Redditch operators are earning \u00c2\u01413,000-a-year more for doing exactly the same job,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Brian Rickers, Unite regional officer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The company has failed to address the issue in four long years and Unite members have said \u00e2\u20ac\u0098enough is enough\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 with a 78 per cent vote in favour of strike action.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe series of strikes, coupled with the overtime ban, could hit production of windscreens, which would have an impact on deliveries to car makers Jaguar, Nissan and Vauxhall,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 Brian added.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The King\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Norton operatives are paid roughly \u00c2\u014117,000-a-year compared to Redditch operative\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00c2\u014120,000-a-year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">King\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Norton and Redditch staff had both been made a two per cent offer, which would further cement pay disparity between the two sites. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe urge management to get around the table in a positive fashion and negotiate a fair deal and salary harmonisation between
