{"id":4658,"date":"2015-07-06T14:30:38","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T13:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=4658"},"modified":"2015-07-08T11:22:05","modified_gmt":"2015-07-08T10:22:05","slug":"jeremy-is-unites-choice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=4658","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy is Unite&#8217;s choice"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s executive c<span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">ouncil<\/span> has yesterday (Sunday July 5) voted to back Labour\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s left candidate Jeremy Corbyn for leader of the party.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The decision follows\u00c2\u00a0a multi-union hustings held on June 30 and consultation with Unite members&#8217; elected representatives across the union.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s decision for backing Jeremy Corbyn is in recognition that his policies fit best with those of the union<\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mr Corbyn told the Press Association, &#8220;<\/span><\/span>It is a great honour to receive Unite&#8217;s nomination, and it underlines that this a serious campaign that has growing momentum.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The leadership election is about one issue above others: whether we accept another five years of a race to the bottom based on cuts that destroy services and damage living standards, or whether we invest our way to a growth and fairness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He continued, &#8220;Trade union members are the men and women whose money worries and anxiety for the prospects of their children, are now the every day reality of these Tory austerity years. The whole of trades union history has been based on protecting people from austerity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Without trade unions there would be no equal pay-act, no minimum pay, no Labour Party.
