{"id":4769,"date":"2015-07-13T12:14:49","date_gmt":"2015-07-13T11:14:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=4769"},"modified":"2015-07-13T12:14:49","modified_gmt":"2015-07-13T11:14:49","slug":"council-signs-up-to-fight-for-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=4769","title":{"rendered":"Council signs up to Fight for 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">W<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">e have just learned that a Unite young activist has signed his employer up to Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s #fightfor5 pledge for decent work for all.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Joe McGurk (pictured), who is part of Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s youth committee and works for Dumfries and Galloway council, has been involved with the union for four years.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Joe-McGurk1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4772\" src=\"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Joe-McGurk1.jpeg\" alt=\"Joe McGurk1\" width=\"587\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Joe-McGurk1.jpeg 587w, https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Joe-McGurk1-300x213.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 587px) 100vw, 587px\" \/><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bI decided to get my employer to sign up to the #fightfor5 pledge as it just seemed like the right thing to do,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 he said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe work to live not live to work so its important people are secure in their work and paid a wage they can realistically live on.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dumfries and Galloway council employs 3,600 people.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bDumfries is a relatively small town and quite often gets forgotten,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 added Joe.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Unite\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s #fightfor5 campaign is for decent work for all.
