{"id":6394,"date":"2015-10-21T16:03:14","date_gmt":"2015-10-21T15:03:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=6394"},"modified":"2015-10-21T16:03:14","modified_gmt":"2015-10-21T15:03:14","slug":"nuclear-deal-secures-long-term-employment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=6394","title":{"rendered":"Nuclear deal secures long-term employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>China\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s investment in Hinckley Point nuclear power station has today (Wednesday October 21) raised concern about the financing of future infrastructure projects in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite welcomed the deal saying it would give much needed employment for skilled workers in the south west.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe welcome the news today as securing long-term employment for our skilled members in the region and also contributing to future energy security,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Kevin Coyne, Unite national officer for energy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although Hinckley Point has successfully raised the finance it has taken a long time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe need to ask as a country whether this investment model is the best and most cost effective way of financing much needed investment in future UK infrastructure projects,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Kevin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The private sector struggles to provide the necessary money for large scale schemes like Hinckley Point.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe case for greater government involvement in terms of long-term finance in such projects becomes clearer by the day.
