{"id":649,"date":"2014-08-08T15:05:43","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T14:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=649"},"modified":"2014-08-08T15:05:43","modified_gmt":"2014-08-08T14:05:43","slug":"pay-body-threat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=649","title":{"rendered":"Pay body threat"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The future of our NHS has been further endangered by the government\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s decision not to consult the independent pay review body (PRB) \u00e2\u20ac\u201c who assesses and advise the appropriate pay for all NHS staff \u00e2\u20ac\u201c for recommendations on next year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The decision, which is feared to \u00e2\u20ac\u0098sound the death knell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 for the PRB, was made by Treasury chief secretary Danny Alexander and will mean that the government will have full and unnegotiable reign over the terms and conditions of pay of all Agenda for Change staff for 2015\/16.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt is clear from Danny Alexander\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s statement that NHS staff pay is set to become a political football, where dedicated health professionals are seeing their incomes supressed, while the rich and powerful prosper under the coalition\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s polices,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Unite national officer for health, Barrie Brown.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This decision is a deeper regression from last year where the government consulted the PRB but never implemented their recommendations; leaving the pay situation in disarray across the UK, with left NHS staff in England with an insulting \u00e2\u20ac\u0098pay rise\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 of just one per cent \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and to those only already at the top of their pay band.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite, in partnership with other unions, will be balloting members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland from August 26 in a stand against unfair pay.
