{"id":6732,"date":"2015-11-12T11:41:40","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T11:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=6732"},"modified":"2015-11-13T11:38:18","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T11:38:18","slug":"too-far-too-fast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=6732","title":{"rendered":"Too Far Too Fast"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The defence giant BAE Systems has been accused of cutting \u00e2\u20ac\u0098too far, too fast\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 after announcing that 371 jobs are to go at Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite is urging the firm to offer a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies after what the union described as \u00e2\u20ac\u015bdisappointing news.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The job losses in BAE\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Military Air and Information business follows a decision by the firm to reduce production of the Typhoon aircraft and has led to warnings from the union that cutting jobs could lead to a skills shortage if orders pick up.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Disappointing news<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unite national officer Ian Waddell said: <em>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis is disappointing news on top of a miserable few weeks for manufacturing in the UK. \u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe government needs to stop dithering and act urgently to stop the haemorrhage of skilled UK manufacturing jobs.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>BAE\u00c2\u00a0said it expected sales of the Typhoon to fall from around \u00c2\u01411.3bn this year to \u00c2\u01411.1bn in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Critical skills<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Waddell added: \u00e2\u20ac\u015bthe Typhoon is a superb aircraft, but it faces tough competition in the export market.
