{"id":7723,"date":"2016-02-11T17:15:04","date_gmt":"2016-02-11T17:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=7723"},"modified":"2016-02-11T17:34:21","modified_gmt":"2016-02-11T17:34:21","slug":"tipping-practices-crack-down-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=7723","title":{"rendered":"Tipping practices crack-down call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Labour MP Paula Sherriff called for a debate on the business department\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s consultation on tips and gratuities in a parliamentary question today (February 11), in light of the most recent service charge scandal revealed by Unite.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe welcome Paula Sherriff\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s parliamentary question today calling for a debate on the business department\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s long overdue consultation on tips and gratuities and for raising the tips abuse at Melia Hotels International,&#8221; said Unite national officer Rhys McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe business secretary Sajid Javid, made all the right noises in the heat of last summer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s tipping abuse scandal when he launched an investigation into the murky world of tips and service charges,&#8221; he added. &#8220;But three months after it closed in early November we are still no closer to the much needed crack-down on dubious tipping practices.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThe tipping abuse scandal rocking the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hospitality industry shows no signs of abating.
