{"id":8009,"date":"2016-03-08T12:06:52","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T12:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=8009"},"modified":"2016-03-08T16:54:30","modified_gmt":"2016-03-08T16:54:30","slug":"stop-the-cruelty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=8009","title":{"rendered":"Stop the cruelty"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tomorrow (March 9) hundreds of thousands of people will protest at the Tories\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 cruel benefit sanctions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Vulnerable people up and down the country are being punished for the \u00e2\u20ac\u0098crime\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 of being victims of a failing economy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bMoney can be cut for arriving late at the Jobcentre, missing an appointment to go to a funeral or even failing to apply for a job while waiting to start a new job,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Liane Groves, Unite head of community.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In 2013 David Clapson, a diabetic ex-soldier, died starving because he was penalised by the Jobcentre for missing a meeting.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His body was found surrounded by CVs and his electricity had been cut off making his insulin unusable.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00e2\u20ac\u015bIt is totally counterproductive and there can be no justification for this grotesque cruelty by the government.
