{"id":9350,"date":"2016-07-22T16:17:12","date_gmt":"2016-07-22T15:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=9350"},"modified":"2016-07-22T16:17:12","modified_gmt":"2016-07-22T15:17:12","slug":"no-excuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=9350","title":{"rendered":"No excuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>University bosses should not use speculation about future EU research spending in the UK to avoid giving higher education (HE) staff a decent pay rise, Unite said today (July 22).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite, which has about 16,000 members in HE, said that it would be holding a strike ballot in response to the \u00e2\u20ac\u0098paltry\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 1.1 per cent\u00c2\u00a0 pay offer for August 2016-August 2017 proposed by the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Unite, which will be working closely with other HE unions on the pay campaign, will start balloting its members in the middle of August and will close on September 8.
