{"id":9531,"date":"2016-08-15T17:02:36","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T16:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unitelive.org\/?p=9531"},"modified":"2016-08-15T17:02:36","modified_gmt":"2016-08-15T16:02:36","slug":"sweet-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitelive.test.igniteamt.com\/?p=9531","title":{"rendered":"Sweet victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>An agreement covering 7,600 UK employees of food and drink giant Nestl\u0102\u00a9 has been agreed with the Unite and GMB trade unions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The agreement (which is subject to trustee approval) will safeguard the future of the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s career average defined benefit scheme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Members of the trade unions voted overwhelmingly to accept the package after a year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The deal also includes a two-year three per cent pay rise for production workers for 2016 and 2017 designed to lessen the impact of the increased contributions for employees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bThis pension package, accepted overwhelmingly by the workers, secures the future of the career average pension scheme, which a year ago was under threat,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 said Unite national officer for food and drink Julia Long.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bA lot of hard work went into safeguarding members\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pension provision at Nestl\u0102\u00a9 at a time when company pension schemes in the UK are under a great deal of pressure,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 she added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dame Fiona Kendrick, CEO &amp; chairman of Nestl\u0102\u00a9 UK &amp; Ireland said that the matter of pensions was \u00e2\u20ac\u015bhugely important to Nestl\u0102\u00a9.\u00e2\u20ac\u0165<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bAnd that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s why it was imperative that we undertook a comprehensive and wide ranging consultation process on the changes that we proposed in July 2015,\u00e2\u20ac\u0165 she noted.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u015bWe have always been serious about listening to our employees and working closely with the trade unions.
