Labour MPs salute foodbanks, condemn austerity

At Unite’s ‘pop-up’ foodbank outside Parliament this week (December 7), we spoke to Labour MPs Ian Mearns and Lisa Nandy (pictured), as well as foodbank manager Nathan Jones.

 

“There are far too many people — children, families, older people — who don’t have enough to eat in one of the richest countries in the world,” Nandy told UNITElive. “It is quite simply a disgrace.”

 

Nathan explains why the support of the public is so vital for the work that foodbanks, who save countless lives each year, do.
