Unite remembers
Unite activists gathered at Tower Hill in London on Saturday (April 28), International Workers’ Memorial Day, to pay tribute to those who’ve been killed or injured at work.
Speakers included Unite assistant general secretary Gail Cartmail (pictured above) and Unite regional secretary Pete Kavanagh (pictured below) among others.
Dozens of Unite members attended, mostly from the construction sector, including Daniela Dobos and Waly Coulibaly (pictured below).
As the event drew to a close, 30 black balloons were released into the air — each symbolising one worker who had died in the last year in the UK alone. Every International Workers Memorial Day and throughout the year Unite works with its members to put an end to workplace deaths and injuries.
