Heathrow strike suspended

Baggage handlers and check-in staff employed by GH London (formally Azzurra) at Heathrow airport have suspended strike action, due to have started tomorrow (Friday 26 April), to vote on a new pay offer.

Over 300 workers at Heathrow’s Terminals 2 and 4 will be balloted next week on the new offer, following talks between Unite and the company under the auspices of the conciliation service, Acas.

The ballot result will be known in the middle of May. Details of the offer are not being revealed until members have an opportunity to consider the pay package.

Kevin Hall Unite regional officer representing the workers at Heathrow said today (April 25), “Following a new offer from the company, our members will be balloted on the deal next week. The details of the offer will not be revealed until our members have a chance to vote on it.

“As a result, the strike action planned for tomorrow has been suspended and our members will be working normally.”
