Unite’s Joy Johnson’s hard hitting comment in poetry

Â
Wearing the rosette.
Have you voted yet?
Beguiled by the looking glass of nostalgia
democracy once a noble endeavour.
Â
Equality and social justice
enduring for ever.
Until it doesn’t.
Â
They’re all the same.
Liars all liars.
Only In it for themselves.
Â
Disillusionment.  Is that new? No
Is it worse? Yes
Cleaning moats. Flipping houses,
Parliamentarians living on expenses.
Â
Trouble in the Tory party.
Sceptics on the green benches.
PM took a gamble
called for a take it or leave it referendum.Â
Voters determining momentum.
Â
An electoral vortex
tore through the country
echoing to the populist refrain
the will of the people.
Â
B****cks to Brexit.
Political rhetoric
language of reality TV
fake news and celebrity.
Cries of treachery and betrayal.
Â
Now we are left with a political crisis
judgements made on the answer
are you a Brexiteer or a Remainer?
Â
Still wearing the rosette.
Have you voted yet?
