â€You are the lifeblood of Unite’
The Unite delegation met early on Sunday morning (September 8) to discuss Unite’s input at this year’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) conference, held in Brighton, September 8 to 11.
Len started to his address to delegates by saying, “We live in interesting times.” He continued by saying how well he thought that “Jeremy Corbyn has conducted and handled himself brilliantly.”
He continued how Unite members voted for both leave and remain and we would not be defined by either title.
“Unite is defined not as a leave or remain group, but as a trade union, with trade activists fighting for justice for workers and as socialists. It is clear that only Labour is speaking on behalf of the whole nation about Brexit.”
He said that Labour with all the opponents of a no deal Brexit, need to get a deal which protects jobs and investment. He wished all delegates a good conference and thanked the delegates and all Unite reps everywhere. “Reps are the lifeblood of our union – and without you Unite would not exist.”
