Supporting the Bill
Recently elected Labour MP for Heywood and Middleton, Liz McInnes, has thrown her support behind a new bill which seeks to undo the worst of the Tories’ pro-privatisation damage to the NHS.
The National Health Service (amended duties and powers) Bill, put forward by MP Clive Efford, is up for its second reading tomorrow (Friday November 21). If the bill goes through, the NHS will no longer be required to competitively tender contracts, which has proven a disaster since the 2012 health and social care act became law.
McInnes is a Unite member and former biochemist for the NHS.
