‘Stunned silence’

Little more than a week ago, the steel community of Scunthorpe was devastated by the news that 1,200 jobs at Tata Steel would go, following a grim month for the industry as the SSI steel plant in Redcar was shut down virtually overnight.

Unite member and Tata Steel electrician Charlotte Upton, along with Unite Tata Steel site convenor Martin Foster told the BBC in a video feature what, exactly, the job losses will mean for their community.
