“We’re not the enemy within”

At the packed Protect the right to strike TUC rally today (November 2) Unite general secretary Len McCluskey spoke out against the trade union Bill, urging opposition to it.

He said, “The aim of TU Bill is to emasculate our movement. We are not going to stand idly by and let our hard fought for rights be taken away from us. What’s the point of a union if it can’t stand shoulder to shoulder with its members in dispute?” he asked.

“We’re told the law is sacrosanct, but history’s littered with people who stood up and defied bad laws.

“We’re not the enemy within. Union members are the fabric of our communities. Believe in our values.”

He urged members to, “Stay solid together and oppose the trade union bill.”
