Shaping change
Pro-worker, pro-business – this was the â€right approach’ to get British business back on track, and to create higher paid, higher value jobs – according to shadow business secretary, Chuka Umunna MP.
Unions and employers had to be equally responsible and he said, “We need unions to be engaged not just in times of dispute or crisis, but much earlier, in a continuous discussion, shaping the process of change.”
It was the “only way we will rise to the challenge of building a new economy for this modern, global world.”
He spoke about the government’s attempts to crush trade unions. He pledged Labour in government would reform current employment tribunals law with a new system, “ensuring all workers have proper access to justice.”
And on blacklisting he pledged to “deliver justice to those workers who lost their livelihoods and end blacklisting for once and for all.”
