Goodwill well dry

Stop wrecking NHS plea
Rae Passfield, Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

At the TUC conference yesterday afternoon (September 8) Unite delegate and health visitor Kathy Walters seconded a motion on sustainable funding for the NHS, warning that the kind nature of NHS workers has been pushed to its limits.

Kathy, who has worked in the NHS for nearly 25 years, said, “We have always gone the extra mile – staying late, missing lunches – because we care about our patients.

“But the Tories have dipped their buckets too often in the well of good will and that well has now run dry.”

The composite called for the NHS to be saved from the threat of privatisation, and to restore its sustainability based on collaboration, not competition.

In closing Kathy warned, “We are shouting ‘iceberg’ – we can’t let it hit.”

The composite was carried.
