Eco time bomb
Speaking to a motion on floods and climate change, Unite delegate and finance rep Stella Ridgway, told of her personal experience as a narrowboat resident, of the results of not dredging waterways.
She said, “This government’s track record on the environment is abysmal.
“The withdrawal of tax breaks for renewable/carbon-neutral energy resources such as solar power in favour of extreme energy like “fracking” is nonsensical until you “follow the money” and find that there are advisors and members of this government with vested interests.
She said she was disappointed in Labour’s Caroline Flint, who was not against fracking when done safely.
Stella said that unless action was taken she could, “see an environmental time bomb, consigning future generations to lives without clean water.”
